See and Hear the King of All Hours

When the red rooster engulfed the Palace of Westminster in 1834, British officials held a competition. Who can make the best design for the new Parliament building? The winner is an elaborate Gothic-style palace by Sir Charles Barry, including a four-hour side of the tower is very impressive. Property Management Office Palace down command to create a "King of All Hours, the largest in the world."
This clock is one of the famous monuments of London, and a distinctive sound known throughout the world. His name is Big Ben, although the name was originally only aimed at the bell. This world famous clock is the most amazing engineering.

Very Challenging task
96-meter-tall clock tower was started in 1843 is built. Three years later, they began looking for a skilled craftsman who can make very high precision clock, with the difference in time not more than one second per hour. The task is very challenging. At the peak of the high open tower, clock needles is easily buffeted by wind, snow, and ice-besides being a place perched pigeons! Such disturbances will affect the pendulum clock, which determines its order rate precision clock. While the experts argue about how to solve the problem, a horolog (scientists measure time), Edmund Beckett Denison, submit an acceptable plan, and a leading watchmaker assigned to him.
Two years later, the clock was completed, but he had to sit languishing in the watchmaker's workshop for five years until the tower was completed. During that time, Danison successfully designed a tool that can protect the pendulum clock from outside interference, thus ensuring precision clock.

Big Ben's Birthday
After the clock mechanism was completed, the next step is to make his bells. A welding metal in the northeastern part of the UK welding bell. The result is greater than anticipated and weighing more than 16 tons! Once the weight of the bell is so damaging the deck of a ship transporting them to London. Finally, the ship arrived at its destination. Once appointed to the mainland, bells and even then transported by special train drawn by 16 white horses. Then, the bell hung on a metal frame in front of Parliament building to be exercised.
Many large bell has a name and a giant bell was also named Big Ben. Why? No one knows for sure. Some say that the name of the bell was probably taken from the nickname of Sir Benjamin Hall, the big man who works in Parliament. Others argue that the bell was taking the name Benjamin Caunt, the famous heavyweight boxer at the time. Whatever its origin, the name Big Ben is no longer aimed at the large bell, but now generally refer clock, bell, and tower.

Disaster struck twice
Big Ben bell bat first seemed less severe, then replaced with a big bat weighing 660 pounds. However, after pilot-tested for many months, there was a disaster. The bell was cracked and could not be repaired. Big Ben should be removed from the skeleton. Bell metal melted, then cast again into the bell which weighs 13.7 tons. Again, many people stood on the sidewalk when the train carrying the new bells were moving towards the Houses of Parliament.
A few months later, the tower was completed. Several groups of workers tirelessly hoisted the Big Ben and put it on top of the tower. Finally, the giant bells joined with four other smaller bells which ring every quarter hour. Furthermore, the heavy clock mechanism installed. The "King of All the King" finally ready for action-or so it seems.
In July 1859, Big Ben started clanging every hour. However, this victory did not last long. In early October, the great bell cracked again! Moving a large bell from the tower impossible. So, the workers rotate it a quarter turn so that the bell of his bat will not hit the part that cracked. Then, to prevent disasters in the future, even a lighter bat in pairs. After three years, Big Ben back to work! Cracks are still there, and that's what produces the sound "dong" is typical.

Historical milestones
In 1924, the BBC, British Broadcasting Corporation, a microphone permanently installed in the clock tower and began to broadcast regularly Clank Big Ben as a marker of national time. Eight years later, the audience throughout the British Commonwealth also connected, and today's Big Ben's a beautiful sound reverberated around the world via the BBC World Service.
Although the clock and bell-bell survived the bombing during World War II, in 1976 the metal from his voice mechanisms with age resulting in mechanical damage that destroyed most of the space clock. However, the bell was not damaged, and within a few weeks, he again rang every hour. It took nine months to clock it back to work.
For a time, Big Ben is the largest clock in the world, and yet it is a mechanical timepiece of the most accurate. Distinctive melody often imitated and played at other hours, small or large, in many countries. So, it is not surprising that Big Ben has become a symbol of British identity and its capital. Big Ben is really worth nicknamed "King of All Hours"!

MAYDAY! MAYDAY! MAYDAY! Soul Saviour's call.

"MAYDAY! Mayday! Mayday!" The call over the radio that tells the life-threatening emergencies and ask for help quickly. Does Mayday call it effective? In 2008, the U.S. Coast Guard conducted more than 24,000 rescue mission. They save an average of 4910 persons 13 persons per day-and-helping more than 31,000 people at risk.
However, why people use the term "Mayday"? And, before there is a radio transmitter, how the ships are in danger of sending a signal for help?

Methods Beginning to Ask for Help
In 1588, the ship Santa Maria de la Rosa of Spain Fleet fired a gun as a signal for help when it swayed a great storm. The boat sank and no one was reported safe. In other cases, the ancient sailors raise the flag as a signal for help. Even now, a white flag with red diagonal cross is stuck on the ship recognized internationally as a signal for help.
The sailors in the 1760's started to learn to use a visual code system called semafor. In this system, a sender of the signal with a flag in his hands mimic the motion of the clock. Each position of "time" which he hinted interpret certain letters or numbers.
However, flags, cannon fire, and visual signals are only effective if the other party close enough to be able to see or hear a message asking for help that. Often times, the crew of a ship in danger do not have much hope that relief will come. How can the situation be improved?

Alerts Request More Effective Aid
There is a major advancement in the field of communication technology in the 1840s. Samuel Morse designed a code that allows the operator to send messages via telegraph wires by using the transmitter is operated manually. During the operator presses the button, the receiver can detect the electrical impulses. Morse determine the particular combination of short and long sounds, or dots and dashes, for each letter and number.
While Morse code is used at sea, the sailors emit bright light instead of sound that is sent by a telegraph operator. The sender emit signal light short-rays symbolize the dots and lines denote the long rays. Furthermore, sending a signal to start using a typical simple message asking for help, yanng consists of three dots, three lines, and three points again, which depict the letters SOS.

Thankfully, the signal for help to grow in terms of range and distance. Guglielmo Marconi sends first radio signals across the Atlantic in 1901. Thus, the SOS message can be sent by using radio waves, no longer with light. However, radio operators have not been able to voice messages asking for help. Call "Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!" not yet born.
Finally people can hear the voice over the airwaves in 1906 when Reginald Fesseden broadcast lectures and music. The sailors who had heard radio broadcasts from a distance of 80 kilometers. in 1915, many more who listen to a sermon that was broadcast live from Arlington, Virginia, USA, to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France-a distance of more than 14,000 miles! And, imagine the delight of the sailors on American ships in 1922 when the first radio conversation took place between their ships, which are more than 600 miles at sea, with beaches Deal Beach, New Jersey, USA.

Ask Appeals uniform rocks
In the 1920s and 1930s, the conversation over the radio was rife. However, given the crew at sea could be using different language, how the captain could send an emergency message that can be understood internationally? Convention on International Radio telegraph provide a solution in 1927 by adopting a "Mayday" as an international emergency appeal .*
We can be thankful that more and better communication. For example, radar and global positioning system (GPS) has replaced the cannon and flag signals. In addition, the radio became standard equipment, and rescue agencies monitoring the air waves and is always on full alert. As in the case of boat Nautical Legacy, no matter where or when emergencies arise call "Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!" likely to be heard. Unlike past generations who do not have much hope to be saved when in danger at sea, you can expect with confidence that help will come.

* "Mayday" (pronounced meydey) must be repeated three times to clear the point and not confused with other words.

Introducing Alpine marmot

A very loud whistle broke the silence. It reads like a boy whistling to his friend, but much louder. Whistle echoes across the mountain slopes so hard to identify the source. Then, I saw a furry rodent darted into a nearby burrow. With a quick read guide book, I knew that the beast that I saw and heard it is the alpine marmot. Over the next few days, I became more familiar with this furry rodent. I know the stones where they like to sunbathe, and location of their nest, and how they survive in harsh environments on a slope that is no longer overgrown with trees.

Family and alert Cooperation
Life in the alpine meadow is not easy for a marmot. In winter temperatures are very cold and the snow-covered habitat for months. In addition, there is the threat from predators on land and air, therefore, marmot survival depends on the cooperation, planning, and alertness.
Guinea pigs are social creatures, usually live in groups consisting of males and females along with ank-son. Every family has a few holes, one of which serves as a nest and the other as a shelter if there is a danger. Sometimes, marmot burrows they dig in the crevices under boulders. Liang-like Castel was profitable for the guinea pig for being the location where the observations trategis for sunbathing at the time and place of relaxed.
Marmot very attention to cleanliness. A separate burrows are used as toilets in order to keep the nest clean. At the end of the main burrow, rabbit hole to prepare a broader, which is covered with grass. This hole becomes a safe place for the female to give birth. It also became a special place where the whole family warm can embrace when hibernating during the long winter.
Perhaps an important family responsibility is a duty. Adult guinea pigs served as guards while other family members looking for food nearby. To detect the danger and hamsters are sometimes standing on her hind legs in order to observe the circumstances around it better. Main threat to the alpine marmot is the eagle, fox, and humans. If there is a threat or a large bird of prey, an alarm will sound. Interestingly, signs of danger to eagles - birds of prey marmot - has a distinctive tone of voice. At the time sounded, hamsters, guinea pigs were running for cover. In an instant, it seemed no more rabbits that look!
May be said of obedience is a matter of life and death, especially for young rabbits, which became the golden eagle's favorite foods.
If the threat of danger is very near, the guard hiding into a nearby burrow along with others. Then, after several minutes, carefully he would his head to see if the danger had passed.

Stay Cool and Wonderful
In mountain meadows where alpine marmot lives, there are so many grass to eat, and the temperature cool in the summer. If the weather is cold, marmot sunning on the rocks would be suitable. Warmer temperatures create more problems because they can not be stripped of their furs. Therefore rabbits prefer to do a variety of activities in the early morning and early evening.
Alpine marmot would not have a problem of insomnia, they hibernate for about six months. Species that are allied with him, gray hamsters, can hibernate until nine months. During hibernation, alpine marmot heart rate slowed to one or two beats per minute, and body temperature decreased to around five degrees Celsius. Understandably, fasting for long periods of time so requires preparation. During summer and early autumn, hamsters eat greedily so that there are reserves of fat needed for hibernation in the long winter.
Marmot kids loved to play and often chased around in circles. I saw three marmot pups were rolling in the meadow that sloped while pretending to fight. All guinea pigs of all ages greet each other by touching the nose; fellow family members dress and hugged each other during the cold weather to keep warm.
Marmot make arrangements well in advance and be alert to the danger. Perhaps, the human family can learn from these rodents.

Lidah Kolibri

Apapun halnya, "pada abad ke-19, pemerintah Belanda melarang kanibalisme di daerah jajahan mereka", kata buku The Batak- People of the Island of sumatra.

Mata Ngengat

Cyber Crime On Dating Site

Based on my personal experiences to follow one of dating site. Besides getting a lot of benefits due to meet with many people easily, also opens the possibility of the danger of crime on dating sites. I am an Asian woman through one of the dating sites to meet a foreign man from London. At the beginning of friendship all goes well, he's very good to me. At end, our conversation lead us to a more serious relationship. He said he would come to Indonesia to meet with me. He will stay in Indonesia for a month to get to know me and my family closer. He desired to directly marry me and take me to his country. I am an Asian woman who is very naive, I have no negative thoughts at all, I really believe this guy. Until in the end, to show the seriousness of his visit to Indonesia, he sent the details of the flight to my email. I further believe this guy. The next day she asked me if I really love him and are willing to marry him and go with him? Of course the replied is "yes I do." He said he afraid, he can’t get a Visa for me to London quickly through the legal process. Although, he'll be in Indonesia for a month and take care of everything including the Civil Records. He can’t bring me straight to his country. I asked if there was another way out for my Visa? He said to not worry, he had asked his closest friend who worked at the embassy. He will help us and help me to get a visa quickly. I requested to follow all instructions given by his friend who worked at the embassy via email. Starting from asking my personal data and wrote that I was willing to relocate to London. Until I received an email that told me to send some money for Visa administration fee of 375 US Dollars. My definition of that amount if in exchange the currency of Indonesian money is a very big number. Moreover, I myself did not come from a rich family. I asked him to help me to transfer this money but he said he can’thelp me even though he wanted to. But there was nothing he could do from there because the rules are so. He begged me not messing things up, and immediately send the money via western union. He said, I must not to worry about money problems, he will return it when he was in Indonesia. He asked me to get a loan in order to send money. He was forcing me to transfer this money. In fact a little upset when in a few days I do not send cash yet. I began to feel uncomfortable, why do I have to do this? I began to doubt this man. I start to check the flight details. I realized that all information provided are false. This guy was trying to deceive me. So since then I started looking for any information about cyber crimes. Apparently a lot of cases that occurred from these cases that I experienced through Human Trafficking. I just realized how naive I was. I realized following the required precision of dating sites to choose someone as our partner. We should not easily believe in the sweet promises. And do not ever want if someone is telling you to send money for any reason. Hopefully the information I provide is helpful. Keep the spirit with your dating site and be careful.
